BS 5306-3 — Testing & Inspection Schedule
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires all non-domestic premises to maintain and document compliance. BS 5306-3 sets out the required testing schedule:
Visual check by responsible person — ensure extinguishers are in place, unobstructed, and pressure gauges read green.
Basic service by competent person — full visual and functional inspection, weigh CO2 units, check seals and labels. Service label dated and signed.
Extended service — discharge test, internal inspection, recharge or refill. Replace if beyond economic repair.
Disposal and replacement — extinguishers over 10 years old should be replaced with new BS EN 3 certified units.
